Some simple advice if you are buying presents to send to your friends and family. If possible buy things that are light and small. When sending parcels by air, you will be charged by weight or parcel size.

For example your parcel weight might be 1 Kilo. However, if the pack measures 25cm x 25cm x 25cm, you will be charged a volumetric weight of 3.125 Kilos. (this calculated by multiplying 25cm, by 25cm, by 25cm and dividing the total by 5000). Difference in cost between 1 and 3 kilos is about €8.

So shop wisely and either get small presents or put a number of items in the same parcel. Don’t send any presents of feathers.
